Sweden - Spain 1-2
Greece - Russia 0-1

Greece definately showed a much better face than the one in the game against Sweden, but it wasn't enough to take a result from a Euro game. The tactic could remind qualifying games like the ones against Moldova and Kazakhstan. I can't say the elimination is unfair - not sure about Russia, but Sweden and Spain deserved to go through instead of Greece. Rehhagel has now to start thinking about the WC qualifiers and a new tactic for them.

THey played better but not up to EuroCup standards so sadly they were eliminated. I don't think the Russians will get far though if they keep playing the way they've been playing despite their win.

We had the players, but unlike in 2004, this time we were not able to mold them into a team. The defence was regular, the midfield was regular and the forward line was non existent. The goal Niko conceded, implausible goal, to see him farming outside the goal posts, is enough to motivate him to call it quits for international competition. However there is still time for work and improvement looking to 2010.

Spain and Russia qualify to the next round. Greece finishes last, being the only team of this Euro with 0 points. At least the goal of Charisteas helped not to be 0 goals too.

I thought Greece had Spain in the first half with that first goal. Greece looked real good in the first half. Second half not so good. Anyways better luck next time.
