Re: Your sport?

Baseball is a great sport but you must have patience to watch it. Like Megale said it has a lot to do with being raised in the United States. Their is not that much action but its a damn great sport! Thats about the only sport I watch and whenever I could I watch soccer.

What do you mean patience? :D I just can't stand the sport, I find it too American. Even Hockey looks more interesting to me.

You ever see the players sitting in the dugout? They're eating dinner, sleeping, talking, they're not even watching it LOL
This sounds extraordinary but I can't say more because I don't know how Americans view sports in general.

They are countries like Norway or Denmark, where people see their sport as a hobby or as just an interest. Maybe in the same thing occurs in the USA.

In Greece they are many people who have football (or basketball in some occasions) as the most important thing in their life. They don't care if they lose their job or their partner as long as their club is doing well, they visit the trainings of their club in a normal basis, they buy their club's paper every day, during the whole week they count the days for the next matchday etc. Myself I am a constant supporter but not very fanatic - I have my priorities defined.

Probably, the way people approach the sport in a society is related with the sport preference.

Well I can tell you when it comes down to sports its definately not like Greece with football (soccer). But their are people in the US who follow sports like a religion.

It ranges with Americans. There is a "sport culture." And it mostly consists of fat men going to sports bar, getting drunk and picking fights with the other teams fans, etc., quite dumb and pathetic.

Its also a very big business. Especially with sports jerseys, paraphenalia nd high TV ratings. Many of the athletes make masssive amounts of money, especially from endorsement deals.

Re: Your sport?

Has anyone ever had this experience? When I was young, many years ago, I sat down with my father to watch tv. A baseball game came on and he asked me to explain it to him. Ever try explaining baseball in Greek to a man born and raised in the xorio? Within minutes he was fed up turned the channel and never watched baseball again. As for me, I played a bit when I was young (it's actually fun to play) but I never watch it.
From my name you can probably surmise that I love fighting. Boxing, karate and MMA is where I put my time and money now. Ohhh...women's beach volleyball works too.

Re: Your sport?

Women beach volleyball works for me too :). But this one as a hobby, not that I support any teams or leagues there..

Football is still the only one I follow in a normal basis.
