Very predictable anti-Greek behaviour.

Im pretty sure those are Skopians who posted that article.. Anyways look at who's last names are all over the newspaper. That should explain it all.

I'm not surprised either with the anti-Greek behavior by the NY Times....typical..

What I am surprised about is that I haven't heard or seen any responses/comments by
Greek-Americans regarding this hidious article.
Why the silence ?? Are you Greek only when going to the "bouzoukia" or when Greece wins the Euro ? Time to wake up, people.

Nothing a person like myself can do except bring up this issue with powerful Greek organizations like Ahepa ect..

Was that the same organization that was monitoring the NY times already? I remember reading a couple years back that a Greek-American organization complained to the NYTimes for having a chanuka insert that stated "jewish light extinguished Greek darkness" or something along those lines. (Although in reality it was jewish terrorism destroyed Greek freedom )

Greek americans, have become americanized. They are citizens of enother entity. They may recognize their roots, but that is all... so it seems. I hope I am mistaken. It is the same thing with the "australians". When they arrive in greece, they look down on us, criticizing us for this and that. It is a connundrum. That is why I take my hat to the hebrew entity. Wherever they are , whatever they do, they are hebrews first, hebrews second, and hebrews third. They have a national home, which is a genuine national home, only for them. Perfectly justified. Not like ours, which opens the door to all and sundry and "feel proud" to turn our national home into an international burlesque melting pot, a shrine for illegal, smuggled transient parasites; and we quaver in our boots everytime Brussels barks orders at us..

We have become Americanized. Some of us only think of our “Greekness” when it comes to the bouzoukia (as LadyMontreal said). Some of us think we know all about being Greek because we can say two words in Greek and dance a zembekiko when wasted. Oh and they think they know everything about Greek culture because they visited the horio one summer. These people are much more American than Greek. But it really isn’t their fault. Their parents/grandparents were too busy working hard for a better life than teach them the ageless beauty of our language, the exquisiteness of our music and the splendor (and sadness) of our history.

On the other hand when I visit Greece or watch Greek TV, I am sometimes overwhelmed with a sense of loss—a sinking feeling that our beautiful culture is slipping away only to be replaced by an insipid language and colorless way of life. It seems that Greece is adopting everything that is wrong with the US. I suppose this is the price to pay for belonging to the modern world.
