Hi, I wonder if there are any Elvis fans here? Maybe we can chat a bit. I am a huge Elvis fan. :D
I wouldn't call myself a huge Elvis fan. I have lost some weight recently. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
He kissed by mother-in-law (when she was a teenager) on the cheek in Jacksonville, Florida. All of the fans gathered by the back door of his hotel, waiting for him to sneak out. My mother-in-law and her friend went to wait by the front door and got to meet him as he was leaving.
If you get a chance, there is a museum next to the house he was born in in Tupelo, Mississippi. My parents, wife, and I went there recently. We all enjoyed it. Also, there is a pretty cool car museum in Tupelo and a really good Greek-Italian restaurant called Vanelli's.
Then about an hour and a half's drive to the northwest in Memphis is Graceland, which is a must see for any Elvis fan. Elvis is buried there. Thousands of fans converge on Graceland each year for the anniversary of his birth and death, so I wouldn't recommend going at that time of year unless you enjoy crowds.
O wow, Antonio, your mother-in-law was so lucky, I am envious :icon_kidra:. So is your wife an Elvis fan? How about you, Ellinas, you got to listen to plenty of Elvis music at home?
Actually, the 30th anniversary of Elvis' death is coming (he died on August 16, 1977) and there are many big events being planned for this year's Elvis Week in Memphis. Like you said, Antonio, it would be crowded and it is expected that this year, there would be a record attendance. Thanks for the reference to the restaurant, if I ever go there for a visit, I will drop by.
Prokomenos, that's all? A few tunes? It's funny because myself, I did not pay much attention to Elvis until about 6 years ago. All I knew of him was the movies that are shown on TV. What "discovery" I made, and I am glad that I did it. He was such a great performer on stage and a great singer. I like also Rod Stewart and Bruce Springsteen but their performances cannot compare with Elvis', especially considering the time period involved (late 50's and 60's).

Yeah, my wife likes Elvis as well.
Did you like the remix of "A Little Less Conversation"?

YouTube - Elvis Presley - A Little Less Conversation (JXL Remix)
Thanks, Antonio. What a nice remix, indeed. It really brought out the voice of Elvis.
Here is my favorite YouTube video. It's "Polk Salad Annie" from the DVD "That's The Way It Is". There will be a new 2-DVD release on August 7 that will contain both the original version and the Special Edition version released a few years ago. You may want to pre-order it for your wife, if she is interested, to avoid it running out of stock. You can find it on Amazon or Chapters, and other sites as well. I already pre-ordered mine last month. I can't wait for it, I am counting the days and minutes.
