Police Stop Anti-Islam March in Cologne After Violence Erupts

If it was the Muslims protesting against Christians like they did in England Im sure they would of been allowed to. I like how they stress freedom of speech but only when it benefits them. Some times it makes you wonder who else has control around the world.

German police prohibited an anti-Islam march by far-rightists on safety grounds in Cologne Saturday, Sept. 20 after the venue was completely blockaded by opponents. Radical leftists also fought riot police in the city


"The safety of our Cologne people has priority," said a police spokesman after ugly clashes between far-leftists and riot police.

The leftists, who were bent on occupying a city square set aside for the rightists to use, assaulted police and tried to snatch their pistols. Riot police advanced against them, swinging batons.

At Heumarkt, the square set aside for the rightists, the far left attacked roadblocks at several places and scuffled with riot police, but were repulsed.
"We had to crack down hard to avoid something worse happening," a police spokesman said. Reporters saw two men being detained. A police officer was hurt in the face when a firecracker was thrown at him.

Expecting trouble, riot police kept water-cannon trucks that can knock a man to the ground at 30 meters at the ready.
A police spokesman said the leftists were no longer attacking in small groups but in large formations.

Television images showed that only about 50 rightists managed to pass the blockade and enter the city square, where "no mosque" banners were hanging. The "anti-Islamification" rally failed to start at the announced time, noon, and was banned a few moments later.

These Leftist nothing but trouble!! its not only the far-rightist that feel that way but a majority of the EUROPEANS for the
THREAT of ISLAM against EUROPE IS. (There are presently 54 million Muslims in Europe, 15% of those are sympathetic to the cause of Jihad against the West. If Turkey becomes a member of the EU the number of Muslims in Europe will increase to 104 million also a recent poll carried out in the UK shows that 1 in 3 Muslim university students approve the SLAUGHTER of non-Muslims for Islam).

I dont have a problem if its leftists, right wing, liberals, democrats, republicans or anyone protesting. Its called freedom of speech but like you said the leftists are nothing but trouble.

Like i said P ,what is crucial at this stage is to keep Turkey OUT of the EU. How the E.U. will achieve this is not clear at the moment. However, there is a Dutch MP in the Netherlands named Geert Wilders who is in total opposition to Turkey joining the EU...

There are millions of turks in Germany so it should come as any surprise that people don't want them. I'm surprised it took as long as it did.
IIRC the turkish leader recently went to germany and told the turks to breed like rabbits.

If violence erupted what do you wanted them to do, ignore it?

The police of Greece is almost a wreck today, but Germany still has one of the best police forces in Europe. And whoever started the violence they would restrain it.

Thats tough on them it shouldnt matter. The right to protest is a right plain and simple.

Germany has the best police force? Is that why if you go on you tube and type in German police force and you get videos showing German police getting beat up by civlians?

The right to protest for everyone is a right plain and simple, but there is no right for attacking other civilians and destroying property. And this happened in the "protest" the article mentions.

And if 2-3 police officers got beat by a bunch of 15 in a single incident doesn't mean something about the overall function of the police. I think that Germany police is one of the most disciplined in Europe.
