The Bulgarian Dragi Karov, citizen of Veles city, Macedonia Republic is accused of waving Bulgarian national flags and VMRO (movement of Bulgarian nationalists, considering Macedonia as part of Bulgaria) flags in the yard of his house on the occasion of opening of Todor Alexandrov memorial.
The judicial suit is dated on May 27 as according to the accusations Mr. Karov is threatened of 800 EUR fee or 3 to 6 months in prison.

To remind, the memorial of the legendary Bulgarian leader of VMRO Todor Alexandrov was opened in Veles on March 2.

Many Bulgarians have gathered for the opening. Afterwards the monument was repeatedly knocked down.

The materials, provided for the case show the Macedonian authorities have been observing Dragi Karov for a long time.

Macedonian police prosecutes persons with Bulgarian self - awareness and declares as criminal the waving of Bulgarian flags while in the Macedonian capital - Skopje can be seen thousands of Albanian, Serbian, American and many other national flags.

This is the serial proof of the double standards of Macedonian authorities and of the fact, law is used to repress the citizens with Bulgarian self-awareness.

Pro-Bulgarian Journalist Detained in Skopje

21 April 2008, Monday

The pro-Bulgarian journalist Viktor Kanzurov was arrested in Macedonia's capital city of Skopje, Darik News reported Monday.

Kanzurov was called for an interrogation in a police office in the city late on Sunday.

Since then, there is no information on the reporter's fate.

Bulgaria's Consul Ventsislav Tsvetanov refused to comment on the case.

Bulgaria's national movement VMRO insisted that the authorities should immediately approach their Macedonian colleagues to help in finding and releasing the reporter.

Kanzurov was the first media representative, who has officially announced many Macedonian citizens define themselves as natural Bulgarians.

Skopian beat elderly Bulgarians in skopje

The incident, which happened during the commemoration service at the memorial plate of Mara Buneva in Skopje, when Macedonian ragamuffins beat 80-year-old people at the Vardar River bank drew the interest of the participants in the largest Macedonian Internet forum – Kajgana (forum.kajgana.com). The forum teems with postings of eyewitnesses, participants and greetings for the attackers and for the police, who were so humanely stood aside, eating baked sunflower seeds and did not interfere to stop the incident from happening.
The Kajgana forum also teems with threats for the next January 13th 2008 – and with unhidden menace for Viktor Kanzurov, Miroslav Rizinski and all the rest who dared to say that these days it is risky to say that you are Bulgarian in Macedonia.
And in fact the bats, iron bars and the chains yesterday in Skopje were aimed at frightening the ones, who were waiting in huge lines in front of the Agency for Bulgarians Abroad and the Bulgarian Ministry of Justice hoping to receive documents for Bulgarian citizenship.

Re: Skopia the fascist state

That's outrageous that vardaskians can't take pride in their Bulgarian ancestry so that they can maintain their governments war mongering to Greece.

Document : Greeks in FYROM

Testimony from expatriate Nikos Konstantinidis from Resna of FYROM about the situation of the Greek community in the province of Pelagonia in the southern part of the country. How the Greeks of FYROM. are treated by the government there and from the official Greek government, which does not recognize them as Greeks.

Firstly I am Nikos Konstantinidis. I was born in Monastiri and I live Resna city of province Pelagonias , that is located in the plateau of Big Prespas.

-With origin with roots …
With final origin of my ancestors. I am from Moschopoli Korytsas of North Ipiros, where they remained until the 2/9/1769 therefore afterwards the persecution under the weight of Ali Pasa Tepenlis, the Greek-vlachs moved to the plains of Pelagonia.

-When did you begin to realise that you are Greek, that you have Greek roots?
When I was about 15-16 years old, I realised that the names of my family, differ from the remainder slabofono environment of region of Skopje ...
- And …
I asked why we have such names… because our grandfathers had other names and surnames…
-Your surname had changed ?
Yes. On status of our dictator Tito they had changed the surname. Then they named us “Michailofski”. And from the knowledge that I had from my genealogical tree, I discovered that the older greek archetype of my surname is Konstantinidis and I changed it.

-You changed it with legally? Through the courts of FYROM ?
Yes…
-This story, what results did it have… which adventures did you have with the government of FYROM ?
They gave me the right to receive my Greek surname, but began prosecutions, blackmails, and psychological war. Particularly afterwards 1996, that I took an interview for the subject of the church of Skopje, that it will be recognized, on behalf of the Oecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. It was the first interview of Oecumenical Patriarch Mr. Bartholomeu to the mass media of Skopje, this was the reason then, for them to make factitious official charge against me and put me in jail for a month.

-You had declared henceforth that you are Greek and had asked the right of selfdefinition?
Yes …
-They allowed you to this ?
In the papers yes. Due however to my action in favour of the Greek minority of province Pelagonias, that in her majority is constituted from Ellinoblachoys. As I had stated ten years ago, former president of FYROM Kiro Gkligorof, the Greeks we are more than 300.000. From this number, the 186.000 are greek vlachs. For us it is the “war” that is taking place in the wider region of peninsula of Aimoy. In Skopje the Rumanian propaganda is very big. Against us… who will achieve the ellinoblachoys.

= Does interest from Greece exist ?
Interest exists, but unfortunately up to today, a genuine institution that would express the Greeks of Pelagonias does not exist, in order to deal with the subjects that concern them.

-What is needed for an institution, that will coordinate ?
Yes. A governmental organisation that will represent the Greeks of FYROM and will regulate their subjects.

-It is believed that Greece doesn't deal with the Greeks of FYROM, so that it doesn't open a new wound with Skopje ?
The subject is complicated. It begins from the old days from the season of notorious Greek Yugoslavian friendship. The topic is how do we Greeks act. If the Hellenism of FYROM is not helped, I am afraid that we will even reach in the dismemberment of Greece.

-Skopians however claim minority of thousands in western (greek) Macedonia.

No. They do not have neither cultural identity, neither conscience of the “slavo-macedonian” nation. If you look at their surnames, it appears who are Bulgarians, who are Serbs, who are Greeks. Unity does not exist. In this wider area, in frontier near Greece, remnants exist that have Bulgarian conscience, that occasionally play head or tails that they are Citizens of the ancient Yougoslavian Republic of Macedonia or are financed by the ministry of foreign affairs of Turkey and make propaganda on behalf of Turkey.

= What do you ask from Greece? If you had the chance to speak with the Prime Minister or with the minister of foreign affairs what would you say to them ?
I would say to them the following. The offer to Greece, the Greek education of the greek-vlachs… they should see that the National Bank of Greece, is an institution that was founded in 1843 under Georgio Stavros that was a greek -vlach and partaker was baron Simonas Sinas from Moschopoli, whos s fatherf was a leader of caravans, remained two years in[Resna, afterwards went to Tirnovo of Pelagonia, afterwards went to the mother country of Big Konstantinos Nis and led finally to Vienna.

-So…
This is the offer of the Greek vlachs. They call us vlachs and Aromans. Aromans means “armatomenos”, he who keeps the gun. Greece should wake up, so we do not reach with so much trespasses of human rights of the Greeks of Pelagonias who become, we should also have self-defence, as the Albanians in 2001, so that they can survive in their fathers hearths. Of course this will be the final solution.

-In your region how many are you ?
In the wider area of Pelagonias, we are over 100.000 Greek orthodox. The thing is that they do not allow us to use the Greek churches of our ancestors, they are kept by the separatist priests of Skopje.

-Some movement so that the problem of Greeks of Pelagonias will be published ?I ask from each responsible Greek official, to protect my family, and me because we are in the foresight of secret services of Skopje. Because also my ancestors were four Macedonian fighters and I am a holder of the book of descendant of the Macedonian fighters, that was given to me ten years ago by the association of Macedonian fighters of Thessalonica. I am a clean Greek, Greek orthodox in the religion; I respect also the Hellenic church and the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

We want the “Greek Community of Monastiri Pelagonias area" to be formed in order to protect our cultural heritage

Re: Skopia the fascist state

Ethnic cleansing of Greeks in 1950-1960

The greatest number of the Sarakatsani living in the FYROM abandoned their territories systematically during the '50s and '60s because of the modus operandi and pressure exercised by the local authorities there.

For the record, the first wave of Sarakatsani settled in the prefectures of Serres and Rodopi during the occupation because there were no borders at the time.
The second wave of Sarakatsani arrived during the '50s.This consisted of a few families that settled in Gonimo (Serres) and in Halastra.
The main bulk of Saratsani, though, arrived during the '60s.These people settled in the municipality of Eleftherio-New Kordelio.
The life these people used to lead in Skopje was a nomadic one, until 1948. Then the Titoic regime applied the kolkhoz system. The first measure taken was to seize the sheep of those families that owned a herd of over 400 and leave them with only 20.
The fact that the Sarakatsanoi declared the number of sheep in the name of the suffragan when they rented grazing grounds made the seizure easier.
Later on that limit was eliminated and the seizure expanded even to those Sarakatsani who had escaped confiscations up until then.
Then, because the destruction of their herds by the kolkhoz system had rendered their nomadic lifestyle incapable of supporting them, the Sarakatsanoi settled down in cities and villages, living together with the locals. They were forced to become townsmen -unsuccessfully.
Nevertheless they continued marrying with their own cultural group (endogamy) and preserved their language, customs and traditions.
The Sarakatsani were aggrieved having their herds seized and indignant with their compulsory urbanisation, so as time went by the idea of returning to Greece began to grow in their minds.
Up until 1958 mass emigration from Yugoslavia was forbidden. When people were finally allowed to emigrate in large numbers from Yugoslavia, the Sarakatsani crossed the borders with their few belongings.
A significant event of high national importance was the arrest of Evaggelos Mariolas (son of Athanasios Mariolas), a young high school student, for spying in favour of Greece in 1948. This was used as a pretext for further discrimination against Sarakatsani.
Several Sarakatsani were imprisoned and their families were exiled to Kotsiani (Kocani), far away from the greek-yugoslavian borders. The letter K (control) was printed on their ID cards in order to ease tracking, and monitoring them

Bulgaria Warns Macedonia over Hate Media

European Parliament24 April 2008 Sofia _ Bulgarian Members of the European Parliament have urged Macedonia to stop instilling hatred against its eastern neighbour.

"Bulgaria should support selflessly the Republic of Macedonia but must be clear that anti-Bulgarian campaigns aim to hinder progress in bilateral relations, and undermine Macedonia's progress towards EU membership," Nikolay Mladenov, a Bulgarian MEP with the European People's Party said.

Mladenov was an author in a key European Parliament report on Macedonia's progress towards the bloc.

On Wednesday, the European Parliament voted in favour of the report which concluded that the country’s name dispute with Greece should not obstruct its European Union accession process. Read more:

But the report also urged Skopje to combat hate language against neighbouring states, such as Greece and Bulgaria.

"We see that certain circles in Macedonia make consistent efforts to worsen relations with Bulgaria. We will support Macedonia's EU integration but this support will not be unconditional. Our position is in the interest of Macedonia as well," Evgeni Kirilov, an MEP with the Party of European Socialists claims.

Following Greece's move to block Macedonia's invitation to join NATO because of the unresolved 'name' dispute earlier this month, some media lashed out at Athens, along with Sofia, as there was a perception Bulgaria had also tried to block Macedonia’s membership bid. Read more:

Relations between Macedonia and Bulgaria have been historically fraught with Sofia invading Macedonia in both World Wars and claiming it as part of its territory.

Re: Skopia the fascist state

They've committed "human rights violations" against Greeks, Bulgarians and even Albos (last election). Not to mention the atrocious things they did during the communist wars yet they often play the "human rights cards" themselves.
