WASHINGTON - Top executives of the five largest oil companies tried to shift anger over high prices to a debate over supplies Wednesday, leading a senator to accuse them of acting like “hapless victims” while racking up record profits.

is bullshit. Im paying now 4.15 a gallon here in NYC. I know in Europe thats considered cheap but last year I was paying something like 2.75 a gallon. Thats a big hike and its only going to get higher.

This is a joke. It's election time, and our illustrious senators need to look like they care about the people's suffering. I'd wager every one of those bastards has taken donations from the oil companies. And don't get me started on our dear president and vice criminal.

Your absolutely correct. These runner up politicians are feeding the public what they want to hear and act like they give a rats ass about the sky rocketing oil prices. Once one of them gets elected you know what their going to say. We cant do nothing about the oil prices. They are all full of shit and most of them have a share in the oil.

I agree about all those politicians taking kick backs. Yet another sign of an empire about to fall when pure corruption supersedes anything else.

Its outrageously high here in Canada too despite the fact that were are a major supplier of oil.

These are the problems of a capitalist system, one that reaps profits for the corporations while pushing us regular citizens further away from the democratic rights that our ancestors in Greece laid the foundations for.
