Smile China blocks Turks from the Olympic Games

China has raised the level of security due to the Beijing Olympics and gives hard times to many countries including Turkey about issuing visa.

Before the Olympics, China has blocked Islamic countries including Turkey in the Olympic games. Chinese government started taking measures because of the Olympic games to be held between August 8th and 24th and made it harder to get a visa for many countries. Some Turkish workers in the region of Beijing were sent to their hometowns till the end of the Olympics.

Re: China blocks Turks from the Olympic Games

Its probably because of those turkic muslims that are causing trouble. THey're not going to take any chances.
China also cracks down hard on (and rightfully so) those Muslim separatists in their NW corner of which some are Turkic based. A chinese person told me that China always times their crackdowns on their muslisms with "western" events like the Iraq invasion, the Afghan invasion and the Israeli bombing of Lebanon so that the western news media can only say so much without looking like the hypocrites that they are.

Napalm, you have gone to China, I think. Is it true that China does not tolerate any religious groups? I read that they allow registered Christian churches and there are more and more people converting to the Christian religion.

From your post, it would seem that they crack down on "problematic" religious members, more so than on any religious groups.

The Christians are not trying to break apart China like the Tibetans and muslims are so I guess "yes" would be an appropriate answer.
My part of Toronto has lots of Chinese so throughout life i have had many Chinese co-workers and university classmates many of which are politically aware. In fact the Chinese do a lot of smart things to counter the US but it never gets mentioned in the media here. For example the US won't serious put pressure of "human rights" because China will openly and publicly start talking about the human rights of Palestinians. Then the US will immediately shut up because the media and politicians are owned by AIPAC (American Israeli special interest groups). This is one of COUNTLESS things China does to counter the "west".

Lots of people would want to visit China over Turkey. Turks are savage animals, the Chinese may be far from perfect but most rank them above Turk. I applaud China's crackdown on Turkic terrorists . Since the 'turkish family' of tribes are history's greatest murders whose greatest 'accomplishments' are genocide, mass murder, cultural and land theft that should be impetus enough to for any country to crack down on them. The best part about a Chinese execution of their muslims is that the family gets footed the bill for the bullet. So Bora, you many want to exchange some turkish lira for Chinese yuan to cover the costs of your friends.

Re: China blocks Turks from the Olympic Games

I think religious tolerance in China goes back to centuries ago, anyone who has read the travels of Marco Polo would see that religions cohabited in that region peacefully. The Chinese not having any "religion" of their own, they were accepting of other people's religions as long as they did not stir trouble in society. Remember that with the Silk Road which I think existed from 100 BC, there were a lot of interchanges of trade, cultures and religions. As far as I know, they did not have religious wars in that whole area as we have with the Christian and Muslim religions in history.

Considering that China has 1.3 billion people, it is an incredible task for the government to regulate and control the population and they cannot afford to let "foreigners" basically to use their religions for political motivations and disrupt the order of society .
