Why is it that England and the USA are always ruled by idiots?
They're not. We need to remember that both the US and Britain want to see the EU fail. Best way to do that is to allow it to expand too quickly and have it's members rip itself apart. Both the US and Britain have been urging the EU to accept pretty much any nation that applies, not just Turkey. The UK is a member but it is no fan of the EU as the Brits still like to think they're superior then continental Europe. So I say we tell Mr Cameron to go shove it.

And just to support my argument; France and Germany aren't too thrilled with what Cameron had to say:

The idea of Turkey joining the EU continues to be an uncomfortable one for many in the bloc. British Prime Minister David Cameron has thrown his support behind Turkey's bid, setting the UK apart from France and Germany.
So it's not just Greece that's annoyed with this, meaning, not much is likely to come of it. That's why I say Greece needs to keep it's relations with France and Germany strong.

Feel free too! I'm sure in DC they do it literally in addition to metaphoric like the so called " N.Cyprus" displays with skops attending....

That article is pretty good. I like what Sarkozy said. I noticed too the article mentioned the cost of paying for enlargement. I knew eventually (especially Germany) would be using this to slow or stop further enlargement.

I found this particularly interesting:
Quote:
His strongest argument for supporting Turkey's bid was the role the country has played in NATO and in defending the rest of Europe.

"I believe it's just wrong to say Turkey can guard the camp but not be allowed to sit inside the tent," Cameron said in Ankara.
When exactly did Turkey go out of it's way for any NATO member? It's contribution to Afghanistan is greatly disproportionate to it's military strength (Turkey has NATO's second largest army, but Poland, Canada and Italy all have many more troops in country). Turkey wasn't all that cooperative with the US invasion of Iraq either, which I know wasn't a NATO operation, but neither is Saudi Arabia and they allowed the use of their air bases. So I'm not exactly sure how Cameron came to the conclusion that Turkey is doing all this heavy lifting for us poor NATO members. In fact I don't see why Turkey is even in NATO as they are quickly turning into a theocratic state which will naturally be more aligned with Middle Eastern powers rather than Western ones.

EDIT: Do we really want a nation like Turkey, with it's horrible record of mass murder, part of NATO?

And that's why Glaucus the USA's and UK's policy toward Turkey will utterly fail. Someone should let Cameron know Turkey is in Iran and Syria's (and now Pakistan's) camp.

America is starting to wake up as Congress is very angry with Turkey and doing a 180 with them. The Brits seem to be hoping Turkey will restore relations with Israel and save them from the EU.

The fact that CamerBafoon praises turkey for "defending" Europe while they spent most of their history mass murdering Europeans shows a lot about him.
The Cypriot community told US officials once "wouldn't turkey's 200,000 troops in North Cyprus be more useful in Afghanistan? To which they got no answer.

With an exception to the Greeks, the Turks havent fought an armed and proper army in how long? They can massacre unarmed Greeks, Armenians and Assyrians in Asia Minor and Pontus; can invade Cyprus who didn't even fight back and still hold the majority of the country, and have petty fire fights with the Kurds who aren't going anywhere. The Turks and the Turkish Armed Forces are an absolute joke! This is why you will never see them fighting in Afghanistan or Iraq. They are cowards who prey on innocent people who have no knowledge of combat whatsoever.

What a great question to raise.
