| GR Member | Re: Midnight Express That is an old movie from the 70's and its based off a true movie. I saw it a few times and it just reminds me of the barbarity of the turkish people. Its a good example to have an idea on how turkish peoples are.

If Hollywood wanted to make Turkey and Turks bad, there would be a movie about the ethnic cleansing of Greeks and Armaniens in Asia Minor. But instead the world gets a film about an American pothead getting in trouble with mean prison guards who happen to be Turks. | |

Beatings and torture are everywhere in prisons most likely even in the America. The movie was good to movie the man who played the warden played Pluto on the movie popeye lol.

| GR Elite | Re: Midnight Express If the protagonist of Midnight Express had been caught in Malaysia he wouldn't have had to worry about sadistic Turkish guards; he would have been executed. It's a fast-paced movie, based on fact but the truth is that he was a drug smuggler caught in a foreign country. I feel no sympathy for him even though I thought the movie entertaining. |

I was surprised to learn that it was made by anti-Greek oliver stone but made when he was younger obviously. The fact that Stone has taken creative license on subsequent films like JFK and Alexander actually helps the turks deny some of cultural elements portrayed in the film. |

| GR Member | Re: Midnight Express 1978 Uhm, This movie was a propagandha tool supported by Diasparo Armenians. Even Bill has admitted that the movie weas exteremly crap and not reflecting the Truths. Did you also knwo that oliver has come to turkey 2 years ago and said sorry.. He said i was young and affected by my friends indirectly referaing to his armenians buddies. You can watch the live interview with Bill Hayes , I think it is best to hear from him, isnt it? An before calling Turkey and undeveloped Democracyi you have to remove the Torture sponsored by greek police from the internet first :=)
