I think you're only reading the title and not the message itself. Under your username, towards the top of the page, click on "Private Messages". If it's still a dot in there, then I screwed up somehow. Let me know if there is anything in the message itself. If you have a pop-up blocker, it won't open the message when you click ok on the message. That's when you have to open it manually.

But since something is required in the title bar, I usually just put a dot . so it will go through. Now you made me explain my laziness.
