Re: Brief history of Byzantium

There will never be an alliance between Balkan states, too much bad history and dreams of greater homelands. Too bad because it seems we have more in common with each other than differences.

Re: Brief history of Byzantium

Very interesting topic, guys. I used to associate Byzantine with religious things only, did not know it was such a big part of Greek history.

Re: Brief history of Byzantium

Thanks Prokomenos, I will read up a little more about Byzantium later. Are all the Greek religious icons Byzantinous? You know what I mean, those icons they sell at festivals that show faces of saints, etc.

Re: Brief history of Byzantium

Thanks Hellinika. The reason I say "all" is because they seem to have the same type if paintings, the same colours, etc. so it does not appear to me as if there are different periods of time where there would be different paintings.

I think its safe to say that most paintings did happen during and after the Byzantine era. Im not an expert on the subject so I cant tell you much more.
