This is a very nice video. It is very hard to find videos of Parios, so I am glad I found this one. Although everyone is familiar with YouTube, Dailymotion may not be so well known. It is nicer because it has a bigger screen.

Here is another one, very good also. I like Parios so much, I find him the best Greek singer. He also sings a lot of French songs "translated" into Greek versions. He must know French very well then, because he composes the Greek lyrics himself, I think.

Giannis Parios is very famous, almost everyone knows him in Greece, no matter if they listen to his songs or not. He has not as many fans as other singers, but most of his fans are supporters of good quality music I can say.

Parios has been around since the 1970s, probably even earlier than that. Very prolific in the "elafra-laika" genre. He mostly sang the songs of composers, but i'm sure hes written the music to some.

Parios belongs in the same singer-generation with Dalaras, Alexiou etc.

He started singing in the the late 60s. In the 80s he was in his heyday. Today new disks of Parios are still coming out, but he has a "lower profile" than he had in the 80s or 90s.

And yes, they are some songs he composed himself.

Woot! Yayayay!! Finally a Yannis Parios thread.
I like him too. He is really great.

I have some more infos to add:
-He was born on 1946 . So, now he is.. *thinks a minute*...61!
-His real name is Yannis Varthakouris, but because he was born on Paros island he changed it to Parios.
-He first appeared in bussines 1969, 38 years ago. Woah!
-He has 39 albums so far, and the latest one is "Τα Ντουέτα Του Έρωτα".
-Because he mostly sings love songs, he has the nickname 'singer of love' or something like that. lol
-Now, he supposed to be one of the greatest greek artists, and thats why he is a highly paid too... of course I won't say numbers...*cough*10.000euros every night he sings!*cough*.
