My Mood:  | Re: Your favorite non Greek civilization? The Roman empire to me is probably the most impressive due to their longevity and the fact that they nearly had the whole known world. Also because they preserved and moved forward alot of the Greek culture that would have been lost to us. Some of the emperors were philhellenics. That always helps. But, sometimes it bothers me that pretty much everything they had was Greek. Their gods, architecture, literature, engineering, etc "borrowed" from the Greeks. The only exception was their style of government. The Greeks never figured out how to get along otherwise the whole world would be Greek today in my opinion. When you think about it, based on the Greek mentality of not liking to be herded around, they would never get along. Still cant.
