I came across this the other day! It is a petition that gets EU to force Turkey allow Hagia Sophia to become a Church again as part of what they must do to meet EU admissions!
If you believe in the just case that Hagia Sophia should be restored to its proper religious role as a church, for which it was built in the first place, then please support this petition to the EU Parliament that Turkey should not be admitted as a member of the European Union until it restores Hagia Sophia to its original purpose as a church and not a museum.
A minimum of 1.000.000 signatures are needed in order to persuade the European Union to consider this proposal seriously.
As you know, Turkey is doing everything it can today to convince the European Union that it is a worthy country to join it. If you believe that Turkey should not be admitted to the EU before restoring justice to Hagia Sophia, please click on "Your Signature" and send your message.
I would be grateful if you could also tell your friends about this site and its purpose.

He said that he even thinks that Greeks should return to Turkey because it was their ancestral home. So there are Turks who are openminded ONLY the government was a ovenminded??? |

That is a small number compared to the amount that dont like eachother. That is besides the point. Agia Sofia should be open immediately.

Regarding the Turks in general If they were to admit and apologize for all the crimes they commited against our ancestors, open up all churches and leave N.Cyprus then maybe I would start to think in a positive way towards the Turks. Until that day they will always be on the bottom of my list. |

These are the Turks who feel thaey can be part of Europe. Sure you can say its the government, but the majority of Turks are becoming more fanatical about Islam. And the Turkish government is leaning towards the majority, whic is very Islamic. The Islamists won't take over the government because the army is secular. So for the governmnet, if they made Aghia Sophia a church again, they would most likely lose VOTES, because the majority of Turks don't and CANNOT think like the West. They would fume to see the site of a Christian church in their towns.
By the way, don't be surprised if a lot of Turks think of you're friend as a "traitor" for saying that. Turks don't even like their Muslim breathrens, the Kurds. |

Hagia Sophia built as the church and it must be turned back into a church. It is not reality? Who cares? It must be turned into a church for Sundays at least.
