The first step I would say would be to learn the Greek alphabet. After that, you will be able to read Greek and it will be easier to learn it. I have learned the Greek alphabet on my own and I listened to some tapes at the beginning. Then, I listened to songs, radio and TV. You just need patience, learn one word at a time. And you need to practice speaking it with someone. The difficulty lies in the grammar, not the vocabulary.

So, Nikodimos, you already "know" some Greek without having even started yet. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

| Re: Learning greek All the Latin and Germanic languages contain a big number of words of Hellenic origin. Various Greek words are contained in other languages too, like Semitic languages or Turkish, but it's more easy for the speakers of European languages because besides the words, the structure is closer to Greek. However Finnish is a Turkic/Uralic language, so I am not sure how big the influnce of Greek is there. I don't know how similar they are in structure as well. | ||||||||||||||
