Your favourite Greek city/town?

Which city or town of Greece you find the most naturally or overall beautiful?

Personally, from the ones I have visited I distinguish Chania and Nafplio. These two prefecture capitals have a traditional local color, unlike most of the Greek capitals which are mainly characterized by concrete buildings full of antennas.

Athens has numerous attractions and places of interest (both ancient and modern), more than any other Greek city, but the dense population and the inordinate traffic and pollution affect the city's image negativlely. Thessaloniki is considered a beautiful city, however I never visited it till now

Re: Your favourite Greek city/town?

I really like Nafplio too. A nice blend of new and old. Sparti also gets a special mention, a lot of green with wide streets.

Patra is pretty nice too, but last I've been there its getting smelly (pollution).

Tripoli isn't anything special to the common visitor but I love the plateias there. There is a nice resturant on plateia Kolokotroni (I think) that a relative of mine runs there.

Re: Your favourite Greek city/town?

I agree. One of my two residences is in Peloponnesus (Arcadia) so I visit the cities you mentioned frequently. The green of Sparti is notable however Nafplio has something different.

Re: Your favourite Greek city/town?

I have not really toured Greece because going to my parts Drama, Thessaloniki and Kavala. But out of the three I would say Drama for now. This summer I hope to do some more touring of the rest of Greece and then I will have a better opinion.

Re: Your favourite Greek city/town?

In Tripolis I like the Areos square, where the statue of Kolokotronis is. Regaldess of the fact that its floor is simple concrete (not very good-looking), I like its size and free space. I rarely find such a spacious and unoccupied squares in Greece :D.

Are you talking about the first one in the small park behind the statue of Kolokotronis? I have noticed there is a restaurant there but I am not sure if it works.

Re: Your favourite Greek city/town?

the resturant is that building in the northern central part of the pic Also in the lower righthand side or the platia was a area for bumper cars and other rides too if I recall. I think in the eastern part with the large building was either a museum or I think the town hall?
