ORLANDO, FL: The governments of Greece and the United States have signed a Letter of Offer and Acceptance for the sale of additional Lockheed Martin precision-strike laser-guided HELLFIRE II missiles to Greece. The agreement authorizes the sale of multiple warhead variants of the modular HELLFIRE II, with options, for the Hellenic Army's AH-64 Apache and the Hellenic Navy's SH-60B Seahawk helicopters. Contract value and deliverables were not disclosed.

"We are honored that the Hellenic Army and Navy have once again selected HELLFIRE II missiles to equip their Apache and Seahawk fleets in defense of their borders," said Ken Musculus, Lockheed Martin Air-to-Ground Missile Systems program director. "We look forward to supporting the Hellenic Forces in their initiative to expand their HELLFIRE warhead inventory for multi-mission capability. HELLFIRE II currently offers three warhead variants to engage a broad target set, while minimizing collateral damage."

The three modular HELLFIRE II semi-active laser warhead variations include: (1) the High-Explosive Anti-Tank (HEAT) missile, which defeats all known and projected armored threats; (2) the blast fragmentation missile, which defeats "soft" targets such as boats, buildings, bunkers and light-armored vehicles; and (3) the metal augmented charge missile, which defeats enclosures, caves and enemy personnel housed therein.

The Government of Greece is purchasing HELLFIRE II missiles through a foreign military sale contract. This purchase employs economy of scale, taking advantage of a large buy of HELLFIRE missiles from Lockheed Martin by the U.S. Army to reduce cost for both users. With more than 20,000 rounds delivered, HELLFIRE II is approved for international sales, via government-to-government or direct commercial sales.

Greece placed a order of about 700 missiles for their F-16 fleet, the missiles will be

delivered in a few months

The final six Leopard 2 Buffel ARV 3 enter Greece

The Hellenic Army received the final six Buffalo armored recovery vehicles. Another six where already delivered. These German made vehicles weigh 54 tons and are basically Leopard 2 tanks
with the turret removed and engineer and tank repair equipment installed. With
a crew of three, the Buffalo has a crane that can lift 30 tons, and a dozer
blade for moving earth. And, of course, an engine powerful enough to tow a
disabled 60 ton tank. Germany, Holland, Austria and Spain also use Buffalo.
It's common practice to tank retrievers by using slightly older tanks, of the
same weight class, and simply remove the turret.

Unfortunately for our neighbours all the problems have been solved and fixed by the Germans. Around fifty Leopard 2 A6 HEL´s will be transfered this month from Xanti to the Hellenic-Turkish border.120 are left to be delivered.

Leopard 2A6 is consired the best tank in the world
