Re: Modern Greek Army

The top end fighters (US rapter, New Russian SU) will probably not be exported as is done in the past. I think IMO from Hellas' point of view the concern will be the Eurofighter vs. the new american JSF which Turkey is getting. Hellas should get some of those as well just in case they turn out to be better than the Eurofighter.

I agree with you about the codes. But unfortunately noone will give anyone the codes of the new generation fighter. Brits asked for the software but US did not accept it. Turks asked for the same thing but what they get is only they get the codes of their F-16s. And they get it because they are upgrading their whole fleet with a huge cost of CCIP upgrade.

As to the JSF, US first planned to use JSF as a multirole fighter but with limitted AA duty. But they needed to reduce their F-22 numbers. At first F-35 was unable to carry AMRAAMS more than 2 internal. Now its design has been changed and L&M declared it will be carry 6 AMRAAM internal and 4 AMRAAM external with a AN/APG 81 AESA radar which is far better than all other 5th gen. fighters except F-22.

So today F-35 is a multirole fighter but not limitted AA capabilities which make it Europe's best AA and AG 5th generation fighter. But it has not the same manoeuvre abilities as SU series.

So i say; in BVR and Ground attack ; F-35 , in dogfight, SU XX...

And believe me we will get F-35 in the future. We cant let Turkish airsuperiority in Aegea.

Yes they said that. Also they had said they will support us with full tech. transfer of Leclercs at the past before we choosed Leo 2 A6 Hels. Nobody knows it but why do you think we changed our minds and we choosed Leo 2 A6 s?? Do you think we are really producing Leo 2 s? In case of an urgent need of German Army or a political problem with Germany and Greece, do you think we can keep producing our Leo 2s?

France spent billions of Euros to design their fighter and couldnt still exported Rafale thats why they want to sell it to us with some flowery promisses. But the country who spend billions of Euros will not give its codes for free to any other nation. We dont have enough budget in case of a problems about the codes they promissed, we cant change the whole airforce structure in a short time.

Re: Modern Greek Army

I would like to see Greece purchase the su-35-37 but this will never happen.

we get Eurofighter TranchIII and then Neuron {which will probably happen}

Or we get the F-35 and then Neuron.

If America is willing to co-produce the f-35 with Greece, like i read on Greek military

magazines this option should be looked at.The Neuron will be purchased for sure since were

partner the the programme.

I read that greece plans to purchase about 100-120 Neuron after 2015

It was up to me f-35 or Eurofighter i would choose the fighter that will give me the best

offsets possible.

The Greek Army tested all tanks that were offered Abrams -challenger-Leos- leclair and decide that leo 2a6 was the best tank out of all of them. We made a good choice the offests we received were very good and we got many tanks for free too.

France is offer is co-production on 50/50 level. Greece will spend 4 billion euros on their next generation fighter we can get 50-55 Rafales with that money. And Half of the money will going back in the the Greek economy.

40 eurofighters= 4 billion euors
40 F-35 = 4 billion euors
70-80 su-35 = 4 billion euros
