I think this has more to do with people's concern about the value of their houses. They want to have something homogeneous with the surrounding area. It also depends on the areas you live, if there are many immigrants there or if it is a well-to-do area with more native Canadians.

Yes, I would say Canada is much more tolerant of other cultures than other countries. However, in response to Aniet's comment, their country is Canada first, if they are naturalized Canadians. After all, they live on Canadian soil.

I read the posts a while ago and am not sure if the person also hung the Canadian flag somewhere in front of his house, maybe that could have helped. I also think that if he hung a small Greek flag, there would not have been a problem, instead of painting such a big flag.

Probably has to do with Deed Restrictions (as they are called in the U.S.). Avoid living in a neighborhood.

Yes, you are right, Nikoz. Those things are called by-laws in Canada and each city has the right to set its own by-laws.
