Tickets to Greece how much?

I inquired about purchasing 5 tickets for Greece. The price was 1800 round trip multiplied by 5!! Also dont forget about money for spending. Basically I need about 10,000 dollars to go to Greece with the family. I definately cant do that especially now.

That's a small fortune! Did you try looking on Expedia.com. I just did a quick search for dates in August and Delta is showing a flight from JFK to Athens non stop for $1300 both ways. It's still high but a little better. Depends on days you go and month. I think Sept is cheaper and if I were to go to Greece would be in Sept when all the tourists are gone and the beaches are practically empty but the weather is still nice enough.

September is cheaper but its also the time when the kids go back to school. Yes the weather is still hot in September but cant do it unfortunately as I said the kids.

10,00 dollars is definately a lot of money for a few weeks to spend in Greece. Now with the gas prices being expensive Im sure the price of a ticket has gone up and will continue to go up. Its a shame if you ask me.

I didn't think of that, but I checked Sept and its only 100 bucks cheaper then for July and August. That's nothing. I don't think it was always like that. One day I will go to Greece, I don't know when, I just keep dreaming, lol I'm afraid if I go, I might not want to come back though

I was looking for tickets too 1900$ round trip,its very expensive in 2001 i payed 850$.

Thats what i was thinking a few years ago too when i was in Greece with Friends,i was stranded in Kastoria, 13 days left in my trip with 15000 drachmes just enought to make it Athena so i can take my flight lol. Thank god for the locals in kastoria lol

We'd like to go in September .... when I asked a month or so ago
it was approx $2700 AUS each for 4 of us. So well over $10,000 for airplane tix alone.

Then there's car hire in Greece (and the hire car companies are not very professional) When we hired a car in 2006, the van we got was dirty the windscreen wipers didnt work (and ofcourse it rained ) and the repair centre we were told to go to were hopeless and not huge on customer service .

Add to that Hotel cost (coz we dont depend on relatives :P ) and all the other co$ts and its quite an expensive trip . We budgeted for $1000 AUS per day last time . That covered everything for 4 people per day (accomodation/car/ food/spending money ) and any unexpected extras . :o
