He prefers to be known simply by his first name, Stelios (see[1]), but has often been dubbed 'Big Stel' by the British tabloid press. He is a sometimes colourful but always controversial figure.

His grandfather Demosthenis Issigonis migrated to Smyrna from Paros in the 1830s and through the work he did for the British-built Smyrna-Aydin Railway, in the engineering works that he had established, had managed to acquire British nationality. Demosthenis's son (Alec's father) Constantine Issigonis, was born, with British nationality, in Smyrna in 1872. Constantine studied in England, and later, passed his love of all things English on to his son. Alec's mother, Hulda Prokopp, could trace her origins back to Württemberg (now part of Germany).

Cat Stevens is half-Greek, half-English. He wrote the song "Cats in the Cradle" which was covered by Ugly Kid Joe. Cat Stevens gave up his ethnicity when he converted to radical Islam, he is now known as Yusef Islam. Pitiful, huh??

The list has many Greeks who are obviously not Greek Americans, like Alexander the Great, Odysseas Elytis and many others :D.

I guess you have to remove them. I am saying this because I see as a sacrilege putting people like Alexander the Great or Socrates in the same list with models or producers like Vardalos.

The swimmer, Louganis should also be removed. He was adopted by Greeks. George Micheal (pop singer) is Greek-Cypriot. Maybe something a separate list for entertainers??

I copied and pasted that list so everything their is in tact. If I was to remove one like I just attempted it would ruin the format... I didnt even notice that Alexander and Socrates were on their until you mentioned it. Anyways dont blame me for the list I didnt create it.
