BBC: Russia says withdrawal complete

Russia says it has fulfilled a pledge to withdraw its combat troops from Georgia in line with a ceasefire deal.

But Moscow says it intends to maintain a peacekeeping presence of 2,500 troops in "buffer zones" around the breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

The Georgian government has denounced the move as unacceptable.

I dont understand theses Georgians their in war and their not fighting back.Why dont they

arm the population with weapons, RPG etc.. and fight the Russian.If this was Greece and

Russian tanks would be in are villages towns and cities we would butcher them

I suspect they are following US instructions. They are trying to look like the innocent victims. I don’t know anywhere near enough about this particular situation. But usually when something doesn’t seem quite right, it’s because something is going on behind the scenes.

Or… they could just be a bunch of yellow-bellies.

I doubt that Greece could stand up against Russia. I'm not trying to put you down bro, but turkey stole all the territory from Greece including Cyprus and Greeks didn't fight back and that was turkey. Russia is much stronger than those mongols. But I believe given equal numbers Greeks could easily beat the mongols it's just they outnumbered you 8 to 1. There's just too many of them as a result of a very rapid rate of reproduction. Greeks don't have babies, in general Europeans don't reproduce.

I think part of the problem here is that Greece would not only be fighting with Turkey, but the US as well. Turkey only dares to do anything because their protector and friend will back them up. Also, I am not so sure that the Greeks did not fight back. Maybe others in here can shed some more light on this.

Their is no way that Greece would defeat Russia but they would give them a hell of a battle. As for Turkey back then Greece was not as advanced with military as she is now. Big difference from then and now.

Brother you should read my post more carefully.i never said Greece can deafeat Russia in a war.What i said is that we would butcher the russians in are country if they are in towns and villages and citys. It will take time but with guerilla warfare we will drive them out

The russians soldiers are nothing more then drunks ,they were butchered in Afganistan and chechnia i could imagine what will happen to them in greece

The differences between Greece and Georgia and afanis and chechnia is that all the greek population has served in The greek military.

Taking a look at the weapons that Russia used in this war with Georgia makes me laught soviet-era garbage. If the georgians were smart they should have purchased RPGs but am sure America will be supplying them soon free of Charge

We got attack by 4 countries at once in world war II are resistence never stop. you should take a look at the axis causalties in Greece.Thats when we were poor.

I forgot to tell you one thing are depots are full of weapons for guerrila warfare.Just to give you one example we have about 40.000 RPGs in storage

Serving in the Greek military,i can tell you were ready of any attack on are country,and were espacially ready for Guerrila warfare in case the invasion force step in are country.

The only country that can occupy another country is America and no one else

Hi, does Greece produce military hardware? Because if Greece gets their weapons from NATO the same NATO sell those weapons to Turkey, so to be militarily superior to Turkey Greece has to produce their own weapons. America will help Turkey no matter what because turks are their strategic allies in case war breaks out Turkey will be supplied with f 22 raptors I'm sure. According to wikipedia the Greek defense budget is $7.648 billion whereas the turks spend $22.936 billion. That's why it's essential that our countries start to produce their own stuff.

P.S. Israel defeated the Arabs in Yom Kippur 6 day war because of America, do you believe that tiny Israel could survive a day without America?
