My Mood: | Inflation up to 3,9% Economy Minister not Concerned
High rises in the price of crude oil and unjustifiable increases in basic products have pushed inflation rate up to 3.9% in November, record high in the last two years. In many cases, products went up by 10%.
However Economy and Finance Minister Mr. Alogoskoufis, after his meeting with the Prime Minister, did not appear concerned, describing the high inflation rate as "imported" because it is a phenomenon which prevails in all European countries.
"The government’s plans have not changed, there is uncertainty but predictions are not threatening", Economy Minister said, stressing that oil prices in international markets will have a key role in the progress of the inflation route. Statistic service’s predictions for December estimate that inflation will be settled at the same level with a slight increase due to the new prices in payments of utility bills promoted by DEH (Public Power Corporation) starting from December 1st.
