The citizens initiative for petition

As Greek and European citizens we take for granted and we demand that we should have a say in the decision-making process on issues that relate to our future and to the prospective of the European Union, especially when they are of major importance to our country and the greek people.
During the recent political talks on the potential integration of Turkey in the European Union, many member states organized a referendum, in order for the governments to have an image of the public will, before they can decide anything. In Greece nothing like this ever happened. The Greek Government went on with their decisions and actions, without ever asking, as they should have done on such a major importance issue, what the greek people wanted. On the contrary, the greek government backed up the Turkish candidacy, when the body of the public opinion was demanding putting up a veto, on the grounds of greek national security and respect to our national rights, specially on the issue of Cyprus.

All Greeks who sign this petition, we declare that we dissent to Turkey's candidacy to become a member state of the European Union. We do not accept it, under any circumstances or agreements or conventions and demand from our government to act in order to prevent Turkey's goal of entering the EU.
Furthermore, we demand a referendum on this issue for the reasons given below:

Turkey's place is Asia, not in Europe
Turkey is by no means a European country, nor can they be part of the European entity. They can't in terms of civilization, population, territorially and economically. Turkey's induction in the E.U will be a cultural and financial catastrophe for all Europeans and their countries. 70.000.000 Asians at least, are ready to plunge all over Europe as soon as the frontiers are open. Greece will be the first victim of this Asiatic flood and will be literally transformed to a state of the New Ottoman Empire. Turkey entering the E.U will equal to planting a bomb in the foundations of the existence, independence and fulfilment of Europe.
