Canada recognizes Skopia as "Macedonia"

I am impressed that all this time Skopia weren't "recognized" by Canada. Does the Canadian government really acts indepedently than the one of the USA?

Surely by now you would have to concede that this battle is lost. Its hard pill to swollow, the matter of fact is all diplomats refer to this nation as Macedonia, only officially like in the UN, it has the title FYRM and other hand picked organisations.

Greece has failed miserably on this cause internationally, and other national causes.

Revolt is not the answer, only smart diplomacy and good lobbying from Greeks, the diaspora, & philihellenes is the only way we will achieve anything.

Need to take a page from the Jewish Handbook of diplomacy - and put our pride aside when it comes to securing our homeland.

Nothing is ever lost my friend. This is only the start. In the end Greece will prevail sooner or later.

There's talk that there will be an election in Canada this fall.

I know who not to vote for.The Liberal party has a few Greeks that will stand up for us (I hope) and I'll vote for them.

This issue has been in debate well over a decade, and sooner or later, countries have to call it by some name. Because it has been in limbo for so long, most countries will call it by its constitutional name.

Everyone knew form the start that a country cannot be referred by an acronym of FYRM, the thing is, Greece in all this time hasn't come up or pusuaded other countries to refer this country with a suitable alternative name?

No-one to blame but ourselves - not the Americans or in this case, the Canadians.

That's what I maintain. Look at #3 post... I use to say that it all depends to us. If we had a secure and indepedent government, the others would be forced to adapt. As I've said again the excuse "We must not break our relations with the superpower" isn't very close to the reality.
