August 29 - Reaction for the National disaster

To all the members who are in Athens: Tommorow (August 29 2007) at 19.00 EVERYONE outside the Parliament. Because no matter who is behing the fires, the responsibility of the government is a fact. The members of the keep can't keep arguing in TV channels after this tradedy. The admits we are talking about an organized plan, but they must give any facts they have to the people! They can't keep it like this - we can't be destroyed without knowing the reason! If you are a government you have some responsibilities! The disaster is slowly getting over, but our anger just starts. Let's show our reaction, let's prove them we aren't sheep who just know how to vote them.

EVERYONE OUTSIDE THE PARLIAMENT TOMMOROW!

I went there after the destruction of Parnitha and we were just about 7,000 people. This time we have to be one million!

Did you go today Ellinas? Were there a lot of people there? Or do the Greeks only come out in large numbers when some non-Greek group is being "mistreated"? Also on the fires, so far it would seem that all the foreigners arrested or suspected are more than likely muslims too. Don't let the devil into your country. Bad things happen. We know that here. But of course the powers that be probably want us destroyed.

Yes, I went. The number of people wasn't terryfing, but the message was given. We were about 10,000 or some more.

As for the "solidarity to immigrants" demonstrations you mention they usually gather about 80 or 100 people. Half of them are anarchists and the rest are Synaspismos supporters. In this demonstration we were people of all the ages, people of all the ideologies and political preferences.

It isn't a matter of religion. We have Muslims in Greece since the foundation of the modern Greek state (1820s) and they were never involved in something like this. In the current situation, immigrants are involved, and most of the ones arrested so far aren't Muslims. The matter is that most of the immigrants currently in Greece (no matter their religion) don't feel anything about this country, they are aren't concerned about this land. That's why they can become arsonists for a fee much easier than a Greek.

This is what I am going to do. I am not 100% sure of what to do in these elections, but it's sure that I am not going to vote for PASOK or ND.

10,000 isn't bad. I stand corrected then on the religion. But so far I have seen Albanians and an Iraqi arrested of the foreigners. Aren't most of the immigrants in Greece right now muslims? From the middle east to Africa to the slav countries, aren't most of these people muslims?

Almost half of the immigrants currently in Greece are Albanians. Albania is known as a country Islam dominates but I would say most Albanians are faithless. They are also many Arabs and Pakistanis in Greece who are Muslims and they are also many Christian immigrants such as Africans, Bulgarians, Romanians, Moldovans, Ukrainians, Russians etc. Slavs aren't Muslims.
I don't know if most immigrants in Greece are Muslims because besides the fact that it isn't simple to say what exactly Albanians are, none can calculate immigrant numbers in Greece, they aren't official facts as most are entering illegally.

I have to say that they are some immigrants who came in Greece years before the big immigration wave begun. They are mostly Armenians, Egyptians and Philipinos and these people never caused a problem. Greece started facing situations which did not exist before when the big immigration wave begun, in the early 1990s.

The square and the forecourt of the Parliament which are in the pictures weren't the only parts filled with crowd. The whole Ermou street and a part of Panepistimiou were also filled.

I just wonder, so many immigrants, how do they find jobs, where do they live, etc. Do the illegals get deported if they are found? They don't look like war refugees to me, except maybe the Africans.
