My Mood: | Nigerian community in Thessaloniki?! What? Maybe I am missing something here, can someone tell me why the hell Africans would be in Greece with their own "communities"? And why Greece would be treating them like they owe them something?
And that idiot m&*%&er Panayiotis Psomiadis needs to be hung. Comparing hardworking, law abiding, emigrating Greeks to these 3rd world criminal, disease infestested, worthless thieving savages. Protests at Nigerian’s ‘murder’
Human rights groups and members of Thessaloniki’s Nigerian community yesterday attributed to “murder” the death of a 27-year-old Nigerian bootleg CD seller who fell out of the first-floor window of a cafeteria in the northern city on Saturday night in an apparent attempt to elude arrest.
Later yesterday, police clashed with youths during a protest by African immigrants and leftist sympathizers outside a police station in the suburb of Kalamaria where the man died. Protesters threw stones at the police station, smashing windows, and police responded by firing tear gas. There were no reports of arrests or injuries.
The victim, whom authorities identified yesterday as Tony Onouha, aged 27 (not 25, as originally reported), “was murdered when, during an altercation with two policemen, he fell from the balcony of a cafe and was fatally wounded,” protesters claimed in a statement.
Police countered that no officers had been in the cafe at the time.
An autopsy is to be conducted today.
Representatives of immigrant groups, who attended yesterday’s press conference with the victim’s brother Jim Onouha, protested that police measures cannot be used to tackle social phenomena. The president of Thessaloniki’s Nigerian community, Femi Akintayo, said his organization discouraged Nigerians from the illegal sale of counterfeit CDs but said it was up to police to break up the rings channeling these products onto the market. These rings operate in small groups, as the equipment necessary to manufacture counterfeit CDs is relatively cheap, a senior police official told Kathimerini.
Thessaloniki Prefect Panayiotis Psomiadis made a statement expressing solidarity with the city’s Nigerian community. “The tragic death of the young man from Nigeria reminds us all of the difficult days we Greeks experienced a few decades ago when we emigrated to make a living,” Psomiadis said. “It is the duty of the Greek state, whose development was influenced by emigration, to show sensitivity and attribute blame where necessary,” he added. Prefectural counselor Michalis Tremopoulos said the police’s role in Onouha’s death must be clarified. |

They need to go to the countries that these animals run away from so they can get an idea of what Greece and every other civilized country will look like eventually. Those places are hell holes because of the people in them. |

The idiot ran from the police tripped over his feet and died. All; he had todo is stop. Instead now there, it sends the commie's into a frenzy. Yeah Greeks did emigrate and they never sold stupid, worthless countierfeit cds like these idiot illegals. Shame on Psomiadis, for comparing the Greek immigrant experience to this. |

My Mood: | Re: Nigerian community in Thessaloniki?! What? This moment they are serious riots taking place in Thessaloniki. "Anarchists" joined the Nigerian immigrants and they are now burning shops and cars in many places of the city - a part of the Aristotelian University is on fire right now. Thessaloniki will be a battlefield once more this night.
10 arrests are made so far. Let's see if someone will be sentenced this time, as we are in pre-election period.
Hellenika if I am not mistaken you are surprise there is a Nigerian community in Thessaloniki? In Athens they are even Sierra Leone communities, and they have considerable number of members.

No, and that is the reason why it's so sickening. As if these people are some valuable endangered species and they must be protected at all costs. Cause you know after all where would mankind be without them. |

No Ellinas I didn't know about these communities. | I am not kidding, I saw the situation on TV half an hour ago. They were big fires in the Theology Faculty of the Aristotelean University, and they were also fires in many cars and buildings around.
Most of this trouble is caused by the "anarchists", they are the ones who start burning everything in any chance. This time the Nigerians started the riots and the "anarchists" made them serious... |

Are these "anarchists" of the rich, bored and spoiled variety, or are they some druggie punks? Or a combination of both?
Not even going to ask why they aren't being arrested/imprisoned. I've read enough on here from your other anarchist posts that they pretty much have the blessing of the local governments there. |
