My Mood: ![]() ![]() | FYROM = Paionia The area FYROM currently occupies, was called Paionia in ancent times, not Macedonia. I think that would be a better name and more historically accurate for FYROM to use.

| Re: FYROM = Paionia Present day FYROM posseses a part of Macedonia, but a very small part. This is also where the (now Slavicised) Greek monority exists. Another small part belongs to Bulgaria today. However most of the Macedonia area, the area where all the historically important sites are, belongs to Greece. Most of the area FYROM covers today was called Paionia in the ancient times as you mentioned correctly. Later it have been called Vardarska, South Serbia etc. and finally Tito baptised the whole region "Makedonija". | ||||||||||||||
