Cyprus: Demolitions of houses in occupied territories

Ambassador Andreas Mavrogiannis, a permanent representative of the Republic of Cyprus in the UN, made a written appeal to the Secretary General of the UN, Ban Ki- moon, denouncing "the continuing demolition" of Greek-Cypriot houses from Turkish troops in the occupied territory of Rizokarpasso. Mr. Mavrogiannis, referred to a specific paragraph in a recent report of the Secretary General regarding United Nation?s Peace Force criticism on demolitions, and expressed the view that the efforts of the Peace Force of the UN in Cyprus will lead to the end of the "illegal demolitions". The protest letter circulated as a document of the UN Security Council and the General assembly, including a list with the names of the house owners that have been demolished.
"80 houses have been demolished so far and many others are to be demolished" the permanent representative of Cyprus in the UN underlined in the protest letter, stressing that " according to the Greek-Cyprus Press, pieces of land will be distributed by Turkey to settlers after the demolitions". In addition, financial help will be granted for the rebuilding of new houses".

Re: Cyprus: Demolitions of houses in occupied territories

That is terrible and ridiculous. Its bad enough the Turks are their illegaly to top it off they are demolishing homes that are owned by Greek Cypriots? Enough is enough with this. Its quite obvious the U.N is going to do nothing about it as usual.
