George Papandreou Accuses

Papandreou: bonds affair an 'organised criminal plan'

In a stinging attack on Sunday, main opposition PASOK leader George Papandreou accused the government of conniving to create a new financial elite that would support the ruling party's extended stay in power by means of the controversial structured bonds sold to social security funds at inflated prices.

George sounds like a sore loser. I guess no one is buying into PASOK anymore and hes saying this.

What Megale said, Papandreou is a sore loser indeed - as are the entire PASOK party. What he forgets is in the last 4 years the ASE has grown over 1000%.
Socialism is bad and so is PASOK.
As time goes on less and less people will vote for PASOK, SYN, KKE. (Hopefully the last one dies completely.)
ND is the only party with a future because it's the only party that offers one.

Tell me the difference in the ideology of today's ND and today's PASOK....

ND is a government for 3 years and scandals are coming out one after another. They are close in reaching PASOK regarding the scandals and corruption - but don't forget that PASOK was a government for 11 years .

Re: George Papandreou Accuses

ND support Mixed-Market Capitalism, which has allowed the ASE to grow 1000% (something PASOK failed to make grow by 50%).
FDI has increased nearly 8 fold.

PASOK are socialists, Socialism = state controlled industry which = inefficiency and thus relative poverty.

When it comes to their political objectives I concede there may be some similarities, but when it comes to Economic administration there is a world of difference.

All these are theory. No matter if PASOK is self-proclaimed socialist and ND is self-proclaimed liberal I can't see any change in their ideology. Both parties follow the same form of Capitalism. Nothing changed in the way the Market works or in the way the Business/Companies are interacting with the State.
The average Greek doesn't meet any real changes with the new leadership.

I don't know what you are referring to with ASE. Alogoskoufis managed to decreace the national deficit, and this by "cutting" from pensions and subventions.

As for the FDI, it is maybe provisionally increased, with the administration of many Greek companies passing to foreign investors, but will this be beneficial for the economy of Greece in the end? Or the companies will just be de-Hellenized and they will be making profit for the foreign investors - their only relation with Greece will be their geographical location?

Re: George Papandreou Accuses

FDI does benifit nations, it has been a myth that all profits leave shores from OS firms.

But the thing is, this is not true, their is company tax of 30%. Many firms are listed in which Greeks are shareholders and receive dividends, not to mention the jobs and increased in real-estate value due to demand for land increasing.

The way things are administered is massively different, there is a over-pass in Macedonia.. I wish I could remember the city, it will come to me, anyway - PASOK started the project and didn't have the money to finish it.
PASOK have no idea how to manage funds.

The 'Average' Greek wont know the difference between ND and PASOK because they don't know what to look for, also not much changes in the short-term.
Another 4 years of ND and we will see how they are the better party.

As to 'theories' Socialist and mixed-market are big differences, not just petty theories.
We've seen how poor socialism is, the state (Especially PASOK) haven't a clue on how to run anything. Best left to the market mechanism.
