| GR Member | Cell phone in Greece When I was in Greece last summer, my cousin's wife gave me a cheap cell phone she had lying around that they weren't using anymore, to use while I was there. I was going to the corner stores (periptora) and buying Kosmote phone cards for it. I'm not like a really big expert on cell phones, but can I buy a cell phone here in the U.S. and use it in Greece, or do I have to buy one there? What I mean is not bringing my cell phone there to use, but buying a completely new cell phone here in the U.S. to bring to Greece to use exclusively there. As far as the SIMMS cards inside them, are they all interchangable among different cell phone brands and even ones sold in different countries? If I bought a cell phone here to use just in Greece and leaving it there for whenever I visit there, can I buy their minute cards (Kosmote, etc.)? Will they work on American phones? Is there even any difference? Also, can you call people on their cell phone in Greece from here in the U.S.? Can they call you on your cell phone here? Last edited by Fatsa; 03-11-2008 at 10:36 PM. |

| Admins | Re: Cell phone in Greece You don't need to have a different phone. You can have two different SIM cards, one from Greek company and one from American, and changing them depending to where you are. I am not 100% sure if there is something different about USA, but from other European countries I know every SIM card works in every phone, no matter which country you bought the phone and the card from. |

| GR Elite | Re: Cell phone in Greece Your phone must not have a sim lock, that means it can only use the sim card of the provider you have bought it from. Im not sure about the dualband(900, 1800) but the triband (900, 1800, 1900) you can use in Greece. Im sure because i have it and used it in Greece
